What Is a Website Firewall and Why It’s Important

A website firewall is like a security guard for your site. It monitors incoming traffic and blocks threats like hackers, bots, and malware before they reach your server.

There are two main types: network-level firewalls (managed by your host) and application-level firewalls (like Wordfence for WordPress). Both help stop brute force attacks and injection attempts.

Firewalls also protect against DDoS attacks and block suspicious IP addresses automatically. It’s one of the easiest ways to prevent downtime or data leaks.

Most premium hosts offer firewall protection by default, but you can also install your own if needed.

Not sure if your host includes solid protection? hostizm.com tracks which providers offer built-in firewalls and advanced security tools.
